Sean Lanigan reports on how the Connetquot Public Library jumped on the huge popularity of the Disney+ streaming service and tested peoples’ knowledge of the media company’s history.

“We’re going to Disney World.” That’s the famous line for many years that the Super Bowl MVP would say after winning the big game. One of many examples of the continued popularity of the Disney brand.
On March 2nd, the Connetquot Public Library hosted a Disney Trivia event for the most passionate of Disney fans. Questions tested movie trivia to park history. Would you be able to answer a question, “In 1929, what were Mickey Mouse’s first words?”
Before the event, Librarian Angela Breslin explained what gave her the idea to put this event together. “Trivia nights continue to do very well here at the library, so we came up with a Disney Trivia night.”
The Disney fans were out in full gear, wearing clothes such as Mickey Mouse shirts, sweatshirts, and even Mickey Mouse ears.
Ok, on to the trivia. There were four teams for the trivia game. The team names were Grim Grimming Ghosts, Rapunzels, Bibbidi Bobbidi Bugh, and Ohana, which was the name of my group.
The game had five rounds, and if there were a tie, a bonus round would occur. Each round had ten questions. The people in my group were savvy about the Disney product and brand. Now, test your knowledge:
“Which city and state is Walt Disney from?”
“What was the first original Disney song to win an Academy Award?”
“How old is Snow White, according to the story?”
“Who is the only Disney princess who isn’t actually royalty?”
My team, Ohana, had the lead until the fifth round until the Grim Grimming Ghosts tied it up. Then came the ten-question bonus round. Let’s see if you could have helped my team by answering these questions:
“What does EPCOT stand for?”
“Can you name all seven of King Triton’s daughters?”
Our group was able to come through with the win and received a twenty-five dollar Disney gift card per team member.
At the end of the night, one contestant told me what Disney meant to her, saying, “With Disney, I am still a gigantic kid, and I never really outgrew trying to find the magic in the world. Disney gives me unlimited joy, and with everything they do, they pay attention to detail.”
If only Disney Trivia Night were like winning the Super Bowl, then my team would be going to Disney World.
