MEDIA RACC UP: Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Breaks Box Office Records

Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ which marks the end of Marvel’s 11-year Infinity
Saga, was released in the U.S. on April 26th and is breaking box office records. The movie grossed $1.2 billion worldwide in its opening weekend and $357 million
According to multiple entertainment sites, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ had the biggest worldwide
opening in history. Variety.com pointed out that the movie also reached the $1
billion mark faster than any other film in history in just a matter of days.
As a movie goer and media student, I think it is amazing how the Marvel movie franchise has blown up over the years, and with 22 Marvel films, the amount of money that has been made. It’s no surprise that anytime a Marvel movie is released, especially with the title ‘Avengers,’ it totally dominates the box office and media conversations.
‘Avengers: Endgame’ is now the sixth biggest Marvel movie of all time behind
‘The Avengers’ (2012), ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018), ‘Avengers: Age of
Ultron’ (2015), ‘Black Panther’ (2018) and ‘Iron Man 3’ (2013).
The next question everyone is asking is, “Will ‘Avengers: Endgame’ break the $2
billion ceiling?” I personally think it will break the record and many more box
office records as we have only seen the total after a few days of being in the
theater.
The other Marvel conversation that all comic book fans are having is now that
the Infinity Saga has been completed, what will happen next? According to ET, Marvel has only officially confirmed the summer’s ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home.’
Marvel has also pointed out ‘Avengers: Endgame’ would be Marvel icon, Stan Lee’s final
on-screen appearance, as Lee has appeared in every Marvel film since the beginning. Lee died in November 2018. In one scene during the film, Captain America and Iron Man travel back in time to the 1970’s, where you see Stan Lee driving in a car with a bumper sticker saying “Nuff said,” which was Lee’s way of signing off all of his Marvel comics.
